Sonia Rykiel H&M launch

French fashion designer Sonia Rykiel launched her high street H&M collaboration with a catwalk show at the Grand Palais, Paris.

Stageco was approached by production manager Piet Winten to design and build support structures for the theatrical set, which included a 30m replica of the Eiffel Tower and a 12m Arc de Triomphe engineered to split in half during the show.

A 400sq m base built from Stageco 750 truss included a three tier grandstand and a VIP platform. Fourteen 10m scaffolding towers were used to support lights, PA and scenic elements.

“As with any creative project, things were adapting constantly which meant the production had to be built in a rather short amount of time,” Winten said.

“The real challenge was the load in,” Stageco’s project co-ordinator Manolis Kassanis said. “Six trucks of equipment had to be built in three days and we dismantled in 11 hours instead of the 21 hours originally planned.”
